The Tea Kitamura tea plantation has a brilliant light green color, and a gentle breeze nudges the young sprouts from time to time. As the weather gets warmer in the spring, weeds also grow energetically. Therefore, we are very busy these days removing weeds in and around the tea plantation by machine and by hand in preparation of the first tea crop harvest this season. The first new tea plucking of the Reiwa era will begin soon.
We have covered a portion of the tea plantation with cheesecloth (covering material). By blocking the sunlight, the tea leaves turn a darker green color, resulting in tea that is full of flavor and not very bitter.
We’ve all been impacted by the coronavirus and it’s not an exaggeration to say that it feels like our lives have been turned upside down. If you are an essential worker, thank you for everything that you are doing for the rest of us. And to everyone, we hope that you are safe and well.
